What is an action?

Understand what counts as an action in Knotch One and why it matters.

An action is a meaningful user interaction that signals engagement or intent, but doesn’t directly count as a conversion.

Actions help you track the smaller steps users take along the journey—like clicking a “Learn More” link or interacting with an on-page element. These behaviors don’t complete a business goal on their own, but they show progress toward one.

Actions are valuable for:

  • Measuring content engagement

  • Identifying high-interest interactions

  • Understanding how users move toward conversion

You can define actions using the Event Builder, just like conversions—based on specific elements, text, class, or URLs.
